Train the Trainer Courses

Our train the trainer courses are shorter than the qualification courses, but only allow the trainer to deliver training within their own organisation or workplace.

The courses you are training to deliver are the same content and risk assessed to the same ICM standard. Courses are certificated through Affiniti Training, ours ICM Quality Awards centre. (The Level of Accreditation depends on the qualification level of the trainer, please see trainers levels on the training page.)

We offer courses for Self Defence courses, as well as Basic, Intermediate and Advance for the workplace, the later can be adapted to the needs of your workplace.

Train the Trainers Course for Men, Women, Children or Over 55s Self Defence

A short trainers course for those who want to deliver Self Defence training. A lot of what is covered is about raising awareness, avoiding situations and improving your confidence. The course’s Practical techniques are based on the most common attacks for each group type.

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates should be able to teach:

  • Personal Safety Awareness
  • Violence in the Workplace
  • Resolving Conflict
  • Personal Safety in the Community
  • Self Defence and the Law
  • Break Away/Self Defence skills (for all group types)

And be aware of;

  • Health & Safety when delivering training.

Course Duration

The course is 2 days in duration (15-16 hours + exam or 12 hours plus 3-4 hrs pre-course e- learning) (Day one is the one day End Users Self defence courses) or 1 day (6 hours plus 1-2 hrs pre-course e-learning) if a 1 day course has been attended in the last 4 months.

Assessment Method & Certification

The assessment will be by observation of the practical elements throughout the course and the completion of a multiple choice question examination (either at the end of the e-learning or at the end of the course). On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a certificate of competence, from Affiniti Training our ICM (Institute of Conflict Management) registered Quality Awards Centre, which is valid for one year.

Trainers attend the Surviving Edged Weapons courses, plus another day on how to deliver the courses.

Basic Trainer the Trainers Course for Personal Safety, Conflict Resolution & Breakaway Techniques

A short trainers course for those who want to deliver Personal Safety, Conflict Resolution & Breakaway training in their own workplace. A lot of what is covered is about raising awareness, avoiding situations and improving confidence and simple Practical Breakaway techniques based on natural reactions.

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates should be able to teach;

  •  The use of personal space.
  •  The use of Non-aggressive / Defensive stances.
  •  The definition of ‘Violence at work’.
  •  The legal requirements.
  •  The order of the ‘Hierarchy of Controls’.
  •  The main social skills and communications.
  •  The stages of the ‘Assault Cycle’.
  •  The methods that can be used to resolve confrontation.
  •  The aspects of the ‘WWW SAFE’ protocol.
  •  Barriers to communication.
  •  Signs of escalation.
  •  Post incident considerations and reporting requirements.
  •  Evading and deflecting punches, kicks and strikes.
  •  Breakaway from grips and holds.

Intermediate Train the Trainers Course for Personal Safety, Conflict Resolution, Breakaway Techniques & Restraint

A trainers course for those who want to deliver Personal Safety, Conflict Resolution, Breakaway Techniques & Restraint training in their own workplace. A lot of what is covered is about raising awareness, avoiding situations and improving confidence and simple Practical Breakaway techniques based on natural reactions and non-restrictive Guiding and Escorting.

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates should be able to teach;

  •  The use of personal space.

The assessment will be by observation of the practical elements throughout the course and the completion of a multiple choice question examination. On successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a certificate of competence, from Affiniti Training our ICM (Institute of Conflict Management) registered Quality Awards Centre, which is valid for one year.

Advanced Train the Trainers Course for Advanced Restraint

A trainers course for those who want to deliver Restraint training in higher risk/more challenging workplaces. Covers training for more restrictive restrain, ground fights and ground restraint. Trainers are require to have a current Intermediate trainers course!

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates should be able to teach;

  • Dealing with violent attacks (including with weapons).
  • The restrictive restraint techniques for escort or holding, as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Transporting restraint techniques as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Seated restraint techniques as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Ground restraint techniques as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Dealing with attacks and fights on the ground.

Course Duration

The course is 2 days in duration (12 hours plus 2-3 hrs pre-course e-learning) (The first day is the End Users course) or 1 day (6 hours plus 2-3 hrs pre-course e-learning) if a one day course has been attended in the last 4 months.
